چکیده

Methods From January 2001 to December 2010, we studied 457 pts (279 males, 178 females; mean age 47±18 yrs) to exclude/confirm a clinical suspicion of ARVC; this suspicion was based on combination of clinical signs and symptoms, 12 leads-ECG data, anamnestic data, electrophysiologic data, and pathologic data, when available. All CMR were performed with a clinical 1.5 T scanner (Signa Excite 2, GE Medical Systems), using a standardized protocol for cardiomyopathies (triple IR-black blood sequence, cine-SSFP on three axis optimized for RV, and late enhancement with 2D IR-FGRE).

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy mimics: clinical impact of cardiovascular magnetic resonance

Background The diagnosis of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) often relies on CMR to assess volumes, function and myocardial tissue characterization for detection of both fat and fibrosis in vivo. Clinical suspicious of ARVC often leads to CMR evaluation to refute or confirm a diagnosis. However, various diseases may mimic ARVC causing diagnostic dilemmas. We used CMR to ex...

Impact of the revision of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia task force criteria on its prevalence by CMR criteria.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of our study was to assess the impact of revised versus original criteria on the prevalence of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia (ARVC/D) criteria in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) studies. BACKGROUND Recently, the ARVC/D task force criteria have been revised, aiming for a better diagnostic sensitivity. The implications of this revision on clin...

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy mimics: role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is commonly used in patients with suspected arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) based on ECG, echocardiogram and Holter. However, various diseases may present with clinical characteristics resembling ARVC causing diagnostic dilemmas. The aim of this study was to explore the role of CMR in the differential diagnosis of patient...

Utility of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in the Evaluation of Unselected Patients with Possible Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy

INTRODUCTION Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a rare but important cause of sudden cardiac death. We investigated the role of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in the evaluation of patients with suspected ARVC referred by a general cardiology service. METHODS Ninety-two patients (mean age 48 ± 15, 49% female), referred for CMR assessment of possible ARVC, were ...

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC): cardiovascular magnetic resonance update

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is one of the most arrhythmogenic forms of inherited cardiomyopathy and a frequent cause of sudden death in the young. Affected individuals typically present between the second and fourth decade of life with arrhythmias coming from the right ventricle. Pathogenic mutations in genes encoding the cardiac desmosome can be found in approximatel...
